On-site X-ray

If the Doctor requests an X-ray, we have radiography equipment in our orthopedic center so that all x-rays can be taken just a few steps away. Our experienced radiology technicians are an important part of our team and take the time to make your experience in the lab as comfortable as possible.
Frequently Asked Questions About X-rays:
- What do I need to do to prepare for an x-ray?
- Other than removing jewelry on or around the area to be x-rayed there are no special preparations.
- What if I am pregnant?
- Pregnant women may be referred back to the ordering doctor to confirm the necessity of the X-ray as they have been shown to pose a risk to a developing fetus.
- Is the radiation bad for me?
- Frequent exposure to radiation has health risks, but we strive to ensure you get the minimal amount of exposure as possible. The technician can explain this further if you have questions or concerns about the level of exposure.
- What will happen during my visit?
- Depending on the body part being x-rayed, you will be asked to sit, lie, or stand. The machine will then be properly aligned to take a "picture". Your technician will go into a booth (to reduce daily exposure) and ask you to stand still for a few seconds. You won't see or feel anything, and it only takes a fraction of a second for the x-ray to be taken. You will then be asked to wait while someone interprets the x-rays.
